Jonnie Irwin

Now onto hosting the fifth series of Channel 4’s extremely popular daytime and primetime Friday night show ‘A Place in the Sun – Home and Away’ Jonnie and the team were thrilled to be awarded the 2008 TRIC AWARD for ‘Best Daytime Show’ against some tough competition.

Jonnie’s hard work and knowledge has helped broaden the show’s horizons from not only property but lifestyle and physical activities.  Jonnie writes a monthly column for ‘A Place in the Sun’ magazine.  He also attends their Live Exhibitions around the country four times a year and with his background and expertise in both business and property, he regularly hosts many seminars and corporate events.

Back in 2001, Jonnie was invited to screen-test as a presenter for a new series of the show due to his background as a qualified surveyor and business transfer consultant.  Jonnie previously worked for property firm Christie & Co becoming associate director within three years. Over the ten years of working as a surveyor and company director, Jonnie advised clients on pretty much every aspect of property or small business.

Jonnie was picked for the role and his skills as a presenter are second to none in this hugely popular and informative show. Jonnie is able to draw on his expertise from his professional background and with just the right balance of humour he is proving a popular new face on Channel 4. He hasn’t totally abandoned his previous career however, and has kept working links with an international property firm and runs a small property and business transfer consultancy.

A keen sportsman, he relishes the chance to try new activities on the show and most recently took part in a toilet racing event. Perhaps another career change?
