Melanie Slade has been signed as the ambassador for Norway-based sportswear brand Helly Hansen. Mel, who is currently studying Physiotherapy at university, models the company's new high-end lifestyle label Ask & Embla. Helly Hansen's UK Sales Director David Wiley says, 'We are thrilled to have signed up Melanie as our Ask & Embla ambassador for 2009. We’re really excited about the new high-end fashion line and it’s great to have such talent as Melanie on board to highlight the strength of this new range. The shots of Melanie in the new line look fantastic and we are delighted with the results.
Mel hit our radars when boyfriend Theo Walcott was chosen to join the England team for the FIFA World Cup in 2006. Melanie had just taken her A levels and being attractive, young and fresh faced, the media wanted to know all about her! Mel however, has her own career path to follow after achieving A levels in Psychology, Critical Thinking and Biology as well as an AS level in Chemistry and FSMQ statistics level 3.
Mel made the decision to take a year out after the above to support charities ‘Global Angels’ and ‘Treehouse’ undertaking personal challenges including charity races long and short and even braving the heights of Kilimanjaro! In September she’ll move on to study Physiotherapy at the medical university, St George’s in South London. Mel’s fresh youthful appearance has seen her grace many magazine covers, including in 2008 Fabulous Magazine and You Magazine and both she and Theo took part in ITV’s hit Saturday night show ‘Mr & Mrs’!
